Teriaki Beef
An adaptation of a Japanese dish . I hope you enjoy the food, the football and if you are in the UK - the sunshine!
We now call this Fifa 2014 Japanese Beef!!
350g trimmed sirloin steaks
2 tbsp teriyaki sauce marinade, Most supermarkets sell this now
1⁄2 cucumber
2 tbsp coriander, roughly chopped
juice 1⁄2 lime
1 red chilli, deseeded and thinly sliced
1⁄2 red onion, thinly sliced
Boil in the bag rice
1.Place the boil in the bag rice in a pan of boiling water for the time specified on the packet
2.Next place the steak between two sheets of cling film and beat with a rolling pin until half its original thickness. This makes it very tender plus quick to cook!
3.Thinly slice the steak, then mix with the teriyaki marinade in a bowl.
Put on one side for about 10 mins for the flavour to be absorbed.
4 Roughly dice the cucumber and mix with the chopped coriander and lime juice. Season with a little salt.
5.Heat a frying pan until very hot, then fry the steak slices for 1½-2½ mins for rare to medium, turning the slices halfway through.
6.Place the rice on a large platter , top with the beef, chilli and red onion. Place the cucumber mix in a side bowl
This is a lovely quick and easy dish , ideal for when you are out and about. You can substitute the beef with chicken or a large bowl of baby sweet corn and mange toute!
