Swiss Foundue time!!

So the games continue !

Disaster in the Grumpy Old Surfer household! G has been top of the leader board for the World cup fantasy league from virtually day 1 - last night he was leap-frogged! Only by 1 point but the pain is visible on his face. I hope his teams do well tonight is all I can say Anyway onwards and upwards as they say !

I haven’t done a Swiss recipe so far and decided we could all have a go at a classic Swiss recipe. No need to wear your kaftans and flairs though!

Use flavoured breads like focaccia, olive breads or breadsticks ( Hate to say it but M&S do some really lovely olive bread) .If you are not sure on which cheeses to do then mix them up!!! Uses cheese such as mozzarella, dolcelatte and parmesan. Or even Lancashire crumbly!!!! ( you can take the girl out of Lancashire but not Lancashire out of the girl!!!)

Ingredients
• 1 clove garlic, halved
• 290ml/½ pint white wine
• 1 tsp lemon juice
• 225g/8oz emmental cheese grated ( or your choice)
• 225g/8oz gruyère cheese grated (again your choice)
• 1 tsp cornflour
• 1 tbsp kirsch (optional) or a dash of vodka!
• cubed bread pieces, for dipping

Preparation method –if you don’t have a fondue set then you can either scour the charity shops!/ Ebay
Or place a bowl over a pan of simmering water – but a fondue set is the best to be honest
1. Rub the inside of the fondue pot with the halves of garlic.
2. Add the wine and lemon juice to the pot and heat until boiling. Lower the heat and gradually stir in the cheeses until melted, stirring all the time.
3. If using kirsch, blend with the cornflour, otherwise use water. Add to the cheese mixture and cook gently until the mixture is smooth - don't let it boil or it will burn.
4. Using the fondue prongs, dip the bread cubes into the cheese and serve.I
